Casa de Surfo is a private vacation rental villa in Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, Mexico. We rent the house directly to guests and to the small number of people who write to us about dates, rates and stays.
This policy explains what personal information we collect when you contact us or book with us, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have including how our SMS text messaging works and how to stop receiving it. It applies to this website, to our email and WhatsApp correspondence, and to the text messages we send to guests who ask us to.

Information we collect
We only collect what you give us directly, in the course of asking about or booking a stay:

Your name — so we know who we are speaking with.

Your email address — to answer your enquiry and send booking documents.

Your mobile phone number — optional. We collect it only if you choose to give it to us, and we only send you text messages if you opt in to receive them.

Your travel details — the dates you are considering, the size of your group, and anything you tell us about how you want the stay to go.
We do not buy, rent or otherwise acquire personal information about you from third-party data brokers, list vendors or marketing partners. Everything we hold about you came from you.

How we use your information
We use your information to run the booking and the stay — nothing else:

To answer your enquiries about availability and pricing.

To confirm reservations and deposits, and to send the rental agreement and receipts.

To send check-in details — directions, gate and keypad codes, arrival times.

To provide guest support before, during and after your stay.

SMS / text messaging
If you give us your mobile number and opt in, we may send you text messages about your enquiry or your stay — availability answers, booking confirmations, deposit reminders, check-in details and guest support.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All of the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Consent is never a condition of booking. You can enquire, reserve and stay with us without ever agreeing to receive text messages. We will simply use email or WhatsApp instead.

Message frequency varies. It depends on where you are in the process — a few messages around booking and arrival, none between stays.

Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan. We do not charge you for the messages; your carrier may.

Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time, and we will stop sending texts to that number. Reply HELP for help, or write to us at the address below.

Sharing your information
We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. We share it only in two situations:

With service providers who help us operate — our messaging and email providers, our payment processor, and the booking platforms through which some guests reserve. They receive only what they need to perform that service for us, and they are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

When the law requires it — to comply with a legal obligation, a lawful request from a public authority, or to protect our rights, property or the safety of our guests.

Data retention and security
We keep your information for as long as we need it to answer your enquiry, complete your stay, and meet our tax and legal obligations in Mexico — and then we delete it. Enquiries that do not become bookings are removed once the correspondence is clearly closed.
We are a small team and we keep our records small on purpose. Access is limited to the people who host you. We use reputable providers with encryption in transit for email, messaging and payments. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will tell you promptly if a breach affects your information.

Your choices
You can ask us at any time to:

Access the information we hold about you.

Correct anything that is wrong or out of date.

Delete it, where we are not required to keep it for tax or legal reasons.

Stop hearing from us — reply STOP to any text message, or email us and we will remove you.
Write to hola@casadesurfo.mx and a person — not a system — will answer. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on a request.

Children's privacy
This website and our messaging are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 years of age. Bookings must be made by an adult. If you believe a minor has given us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes to how we use mobile numbers or send text messages will be posted here before they take effect. The version on this page is always the version that applies.

No SMS opt-in anywhere
Contact form collects name, email, group size, dates, occasion — no phone field, no consent checkbox. No consent proof exists to submit, and the privacy policy describes an SMS flow not visible on the site. Fix: add optional phone field + unchecked consent checkbox per spec below. That form URL becomes the consent proof.
